Punch and Judy Hurdy Gurdy
The traditional travelling puppeteer would gather his crowd with music. At first with a drum or pipe but as Punch and Judy performers grew in popularity performers they could afford to buy new mechanical instruments. The hurdy gurdy arrived to charm the crowds. The hurdy gurdy is the popular name for the mechanical street piano that evolved into the barrel organ . These brought music to the streets of Victorian England. Barrel organs were very popular, at least with organ grinders, though , like Mr Punch, they were considered a nuisance by many people. If required Mooncarrot can accompany their Punch and Judy shows with authentic hand turned street organs often known as monkey organs.
