Punch and Judy the Story

Mr Punch after failing as a parent sparks of a series of events with a host of characters as he defies attempts to punish him for his misdeeds. Meeting the police, crocodiles, doctors and an appointment with the gallows, using violence to thwart the powers of good sense always carying the audience with him, the lovable rogue appeals to our inner rebel and always manages to escape with his personallity intact. Prof. Moon and Sarah Carrot are very able performers who adapt this plot to the spirit of their audiences. An older audience interacts differently to a younger age group. Vocabulary and interaction must be appropriate to the spectators, the aim is always to amuse and entertain not frighten or patronise. The comedy and violence is that ot the slapstick enabling Mr Punch a living tradition to enter the 21st Century with his head held high.

"In my opinion the Street Punch is one of those extravagant reliefs from the realities of life.....I regard it as quite harmless in its influence and as an outrageous joke which no one in existence would think of regarding as a model for any kind of conduct" Charles Dickens (The Letters of Charles Dickens Vol V, 1847 - 1849. Clarendon Press 1981. Letter dates Nov 6th.)
